Homework page 46

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing on behalf of the students at Tipton College that I am representing. As you might already be informed, our school is threatened with closure and we are trying to do our best to avoid this to happen.

One the one hand, the first problem is the lack of materials such as maps, textbooks, video projectors, etc. The students might feel motivated to learn better and with more pleasure if our school were provided with such compulsory materials. I suggest as a solution to this problem to introduce some fund raising activities in our college. These activities might include plays, dance shows, fairs on different themes, etc. as a modality to raise money. This could also make our school more self-sufficient and it is an original manner to discover new talents among our students.

An another way of raising money for improving the facilities of our school is to charge a small fee for each student for every year. My opinion is that they should be conscious that if they want a better environment to learn into, they have to participate both to activities and to donating money to the school’s fund.

On the other hand, more and more students from our school tend to skip classes, mostly because they are getting bored and believe that the classes they are attending to are not interesting at all. They also consider the fact that there is nothing that could make them pay attention to the classes. One solution would be to have some security guards standing at all the doors of the school checking whether the students intent to skip their courses and to stop them from doing this. However, this cannot be possible without the government’s help as paying the security guars is beyond our possibilities.

I hope that my suggestions will be taken into consideration and that our situation will improve without being necessary to close our school. Thank you in anticipation!

                                                                                                                     Yours faithfully,

                                                                                                                          Olivia Connor
